Introducing WebRTC for Internet video visitation. 

WebRTC is replacing the flash player technology currently in use. This will allow the use of an IOS device for both scheduling and conducting Internet video visits. Family/friends will no longer need to use the VisBridge application.

Using Safari, IOS users should navigate to https://mecklenburgcountync.gtlvisitme.com/app for scheduling and conducting Internet video visits.

Android Users will need to update to the latest version of the applications GTL – Schedule Visits (1 of 2) and GTL – Internet Visits (2 of 2). Users will also need to change auto-update to enabled instead of disabled.

WE RECOMMEND USING HEADPHONES FOR VIDEO VISITS TO ELIMINATE BACKGROUND NOISE AND IMPROVE AUDIO QUALITY.

Residents will receive two (2) FREE 10-minute Internet video calls per week while visitation is closed due to COVID.  All Internet video calls after the two (2) free 10-minute Internet video calls will be at the NEW rates of $6.25 for 25 minutes, or $2.50 for a 10-minute visit. 

Residents will also receive one (1) FREE 5-minute phone call a week.  This is a permanent program.

Individuals will be able to have one (1) weekly in-person, face-to-face visit in the Mecklenburg County Jail, in addition to two (2) weekly on-site video communications at the MCSO Administrative Services Building, 901 Elizabeth Avenue.  The one (1) in-person, face-to-face visits and the two (2)on-site video communications are at no charge. Individuals who wish to supplement the above cost-free options may continue to have Internet video calls at a cost of $6.25 for 25 minutes, or $2.50 for a 10-minute visit. Internet visits can be conducted via a webcam enabled computer, or an Android device.  

Visitors conduct video visits via stations at the MCSO Administrative Services Building (formerly the Work Release and Restitution Center) located at 901 Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Please note there is no public parking at the MCSO Administrative Services Building. Please park at the 4th Street Parking Deck (983 East 4th Street in Uptown Charlotte) located at the intersection of 4th and McDowell Streets.
